Hi

Defender 90 1994 300 Tdi

Read loads of threads about propshaft UJs - mine seem pretty solid.

Have a little movement (about 1 - 2mm in all directions) on what I think is called the rear flange?

Have arrowed in in attached photo.

Not overly noisy when driving but the occassional clonk when pulling away.

How much movement is 'OK', and if too much, what's invovled in sorting please

By the way I know nothing about props and diffs, so child language replies would be helpful:D

rotational movement 1-2 mm isnt bad end float brgs worn out, diff wear which is usualy pinion brgs especially the one nearest flange in picture is commonly the cause of noise on over run ,worth removing each prop in turn and driving in diff lock to be sure , you could relace brgs yourself with some advice or get recon or good used, disco 3 bolt flange can be swapped to fit your truck
