Hi
Have a 2001 Freelander TD4 5 door. Unlocked the vehicle yesterday with the remote fob but the rear door remained locked & will not open, rear window not working either & the horn gives a toot when you re-lock the car with the fob; fuse is OK so stumped where to look next, any give me some pointers please?

It's probably been covered before if you have a search. Is the rear door definitely still locked or is it a window fault? The rear door won't open if the window won't work anyway so you need to find what the problem is there.

Thanks for responding. It could be either I suppose, I don’t know & hence the post; no operation problems prior but now door won’t open & window won’t operate. First port of call was obviously the fuse but that’s OK. At the moment I can’t open the door so stumped what to do next! How do I override the door lock/window release mechanism to get the door open so I can strip the trim, test & find out? Is there another fuse for the door lock mechanism, can’t see one?

Just used car to drop wife off at work & after 3 days not working, the problem seems to have cured itself. Both door & window now working & hopefully will stay that way so I’m none the wiser. I assume it may be connection problem? Is there a window position sensor located in there somewhere?

Lucky you, many have had to climb into the boot and struggle to prise out the door card.

You should look at this asap now it's working. As said there have been quite a few threads on the subject. It could be a broken wire in the tube between door and pillar, a relay fault or even water ingress into the door electrics? Lots to check, have a read.
