I have got round to removing the spare. It will be going on the tub bulkhead. But here is the damage it has caused on the door frame.

Did your door have the spare stiffener frame inside?
Mind you mine did and there was not much difference in the outcome. It's a lot more hassle repairing a rear door than a front. I did repair mine but part way through the repair was wishing I had just bought a new one. Today it just carries a get you home 600x16 tire [ also fits my cattle/horse trailer]

It’s got the frame, but it’s cracked at the welds. I’m also surprised at how much rust there is high up on the door, and the bottom rail is really good !! Unlike the front doors. I’m getting there with the repairs, but it’s not going to be perfect without removing the skin….which I’m not prepared to do. The repairs I do will not be seen anyway behind the door card.

Sounds like a very similar job to mine, After plastering inside with spray grease I fitted a my checker plate inner back on, this stiffens the door a lot, without it I recon door would have been a goner.

I like that, but I’m going to stick with the standard door card I think. I’m confident I’ll get the door frame repaired enough to stiffen the whole thing up. Only issue I’ll have is I’m left with the holes where the spare wheel carrier was. I’m trying to decide whether to fill them, or just put a plate on to cover them up.
