Rear bearings collapsed and now the half shafts stuck!!

The seal i was sold was RTC3511G
Provided that is suitable as the inner seal. I will try and get a FRC8222 tomorrow morning.

should be frc8221 or later ftc4785,just check rtc3511 fits

so are all 300tdi defenders/disco the later type with the washer?or does it depend on year

all 300 tdis use seal ftc4785 (grease seal no garter spring )and have an oil seal in stub axle that seats on halfshaft ,so no oil reaches drive member and wear is common, the earlier two seal set up was better imo

my 300tdi must have decided to modify itself then, I get a little oil on all four corners into the drive flange, not a lot, but enough to lube the drive flange thought it was normal TBH.

more worn seals ,but it wont hurt

Forgot to update the thread. I managed to split the race using the Dremel.
I did add a few marks to the already scored stub axle.

I think next time that bearing needs doing I better plan to replace the stub axle as well.

Anyway photos below incase anyone finds they too get a stuck bearing race:









I then repeated this to at the bottom of the race
