rear axle leak

noticed the other day that me rear diff is leaking just behind the uj

I wanna take the propshaft off and replce the seal on the diff. is there anything i need to know about doing this? is the seal easy to change?

the big nut holding the drive flange will be tight, very tight so be prepared fer some grunting and swearing. you might need to lock yer brakes on while yer undo it. other than that it should be straight forward
 
best thing is to bolt a lever onto the drive flange, so that stops the flange rotating, with a couple of bolts - i used an old lorry jack lever. Problem with using brakes (foot brake - not hand brake) is that all the twisting force is then applied to the half shafts - never a strong item.

was ok when i did mine, just whacked the adjusters reeet up , stuck big breaker bar on it and stuck the jack under the bar. nice and steady and no problems
