Does anyone know about this problem im having with the rave cd?

I downloaded it copied the image to a cdr..
when i first put the cd in it installed the shortcut on my desktop as normal.
click the shortcut it runs acrobat 4 and shows the rave welcome screen.

Problem....
when i click the welcome screen it pops up this message..
"Acrobat 4 has failed to launch its search engine." I click ok and it says "pdf has encountered a problem and needs to close" and it does!:eek:

now i know this is a disco forum and it sounds more like a problem for a tech geek forum but someone here must have had the same problem! haven't they??

can any of u guys help! :D:rolleyes:

did you allready have a newer version of the adobe reader installed cos i dont think it likes it

you'll have to use regedit to remove all mention of the previously installed version of the reader

Vista is fine when it's installed on an up to date PC, and when you use up to date printers/scanner etc

No... it's utter rubbish. I am testing it as the system admin for a large multinational company on business network environment on a brand new laptop with a huge spec... It's crap. Once again Microsoft release a product not fit for market and expect Jo public to test it for them. It took 36 hrs to configure an update and now wont shut down. Half our business applications wont work and to top it off it they have removed essential parts of an operating system like Telnet and other commands.

I'm not gonna allow it anywhare near my network for the forseable future.

On a home PC network, well maybe? ... but not here till I cant get XP machines anymore.

all early adopters of any new software release have issues, no doubt you moaned when moving from 2000 to XP

how is Telnet an "essential" app in a windows based OS ?

Sorry Sean I'm having yet another bad Vista day...

I use telnet quite frequently to dial our exchange server and probe and configure our routers. On an operating system called 'Vista Business' you would expect them to have left it there to deal with the legacy operations of previous microsoft products which require such commands.

I have Adobe 7 on my PC but it automatically goes to Adobe 4 for RAVE so no need to delete the later version. I am running XP.

Maybe you have a file missing, here is the screenshot showing the files you should have. It might be easier to create a file in 'My Documents' and copy all the files to this, opens much quicker this way.

seems ive created a monster! i only wanted to look at me cd
There is a fix which involves editing the Windows registry.

:confused:Redhand!!! do i look like Bill bleedin Gates!:eek::D:rolleyes:
i would need some serious coaching before going in there!

Acrobat 7 pro! You mean you paid for it! you must be wealthy!:D
i agree though i have reader 8 and it shouldn't bother adobe 4 as it runs from the cd!

Thanks so far guys! if anyone knows anything else let me know, im stumped! mind you that aint hard!

Mantamad yus that what mine looks like!
