Good evening gents.
As we all know, owning a Defender or two, means on going maintainence & modification.
So during the last 10 years of owning my 300tdi,I've done pretty much everything.
Though one job that needed doing from day 1,was the doors either replacing or refurbishing.
So,I picked up a new pair of door skins & hinges about a year ago.
Thinking I'll get round to that job, when I get a spare weekend.I'm sure a few of you can relate to that.

So,with new doors,I needed to re-paint the doors to match the existing colour. But I did'nt know what colour it was & it was...Well,lets say.Pastits best.
I'd seen cars painted with raptor at a couple of the Landy shows, some looked OK,but, most looked a little poor.
Anyhow I bit the bullet,& ordered 8 litres of tintable,& 4 litres of black Raptor, plus 1 litre of Land Rover Alpine white paint to give the colour.
After 3 weekends of work,I'm very pleased with the result.
Marc.

Did you use the textured paint they do? I think it's for lorry beds. What's the finish like? I saw one for sale before I got mine that had that, it put me off cos couldn't tell what was underneath whether just painted over the crap haha
Looks tidy though

Yes,it's the textured finish.Though you can make the texture more or less textured by altering the pressure at which you spray it on.
Mine is fairly smooth, not as flat as paint, but net so textured as to snag a cloth.
Marc.

They don't do it in white. They do black,or tintable, which is sort of traslucent & you colour it to your choice by adding 10% paint.

Looks very fresh

Any closer pics of the finish?? I seen a 90 painted in matt black last year, it was for sale locally &
it looked terrible as they had attempted to fill in the bulkhead vents with filler. The poor chap at
the garage thought it was great it !! It looked like Ray Charles had a go at it but I didn't have the
heart to tell them.
I am going to paint my disco soon & pondering over the raptor paint ;)

Raptor is a 2 pack coating consisting ofa base product, that comes in either black or translucent,or tintable as they call it.
The black, you just add the hardener. The tintable you add 10% of what ever colour paint you want + the hardener,et voila. You have coloured Raptor.
You can use any celulose or polymer based paint.I know this because I used celulose & a freind of mine did it with polymer.they both came out well. There may be other paints you can use but you would have to check with U-pol.

Marc

Yeah,just straigtforward single pack celly.
You use a schultz gun to spray it.In fact U-pol sell a specific gun for the job, which my mate has.I compared it to my Clark schultz gun I got a few years back from Machinemart,& it's virtualy the same, with no diference in the paint finish.
