well just finished off refitting my engine tonight after having top hat liners fitted and it wont bloody start !!!

turns over ok but no spark ! everything conected up ok !

battery has been off a few weeks so iam thinking it may need a resinc ??

whats the way to tell if it does ??

the only thing that came up on the display was traction failure ??

anyone ??

Depending on year the Check Engine light will be constantly illuminated after the inital bulb check....(it is the one shaped like an engine..!!!)

Find a kind soul with a Syncmate or FaultMate Extreme et al to resync the BeCM and the Engine ECU....

Also if you have the traction light on, this could mean a weak battery (P38's hate weak batteries) or there is a fault....best get the fault codes read to check that one out.

I trust you resynced the key with the car....again depending on year, you either have to put key in the door lock and turn it once to lock then press the lock button, then to unlock and press the unlock button, then put key in ignition and turn to position 2...

Or for post '99 cars, you should only have to put the key in the ignition and turn to position 2.

Let us know how you get on...but first get it on a SyncMate tool to resync the BeCM and Engine ECU to take that out of the equation.

yes the engine check lights on had thought it would only go out when the engine starts, both my keys are still working ok, well locking and unlocking on the buttons, which i thought they would need resetting ? the cars a 4.6 1999 year,

had thought of trying the eka code ?

The EKA only disables the imobbilser side of the alarm not the BeCM to Engine ECU sync....

The reason for this check is to ensure you havn't just removed a BeCM from another vehicle that you have the key/EKA for and try to steal this one....

This is why the BeCM and the Engine ECU nee dto handshake first....the petrol systems seem to lose sync regularly compared to the diesels....

If the Check Engine light is reamining on, this to me, would indicate a loss of sync....

If yours is post 99 then the key sync should already have been done when you put the key in the ignition and also as you say the buttons work, so they are working correctly.

was worried about resarting it as the batterys been off for a few weeks, thinking now it may be worth getting a syncmate myself,

where do you get them from ??

https://blackbox-solutions.com/shop/

Depends on your engine - GEMS or Motronic if it is the THOR engine it would be the Motronic version....

Go to the Black Box Solutions website and go to the SHOP then BASIC BITS it should be in there....

Mind though as it will ship from Cypress, so you will get postage and customs charges (not to many £££)....

There is a company in the UK who supplies them too, but for the life of me I can't remember who they are...sorry...

They are also available from Ebay they are usually around the £75-90 mark or so.....

As kthe Wammer or Datatek who the UK supplier is as I can't remember....
