Hello to you all,

I'm very sorry if the question has been asked many times before, but................... I am thinking of buying a 39,000 mile 54 registered Range Rover Vogue Td6 from an authorised Land Rover service agent (not main dealer). Are there any common problems with this vehicle, and more to the point anything that I should particularly look for. I have been "advised" that gearboxes are a weak point. Is this true?

Thank you.

Nigel.

there is a weak point on the gearboxes i think there was an upgrade or upgrade part for them, but also the front diff had problems aswell,im sure someone will be along to confirm it,but i do know ashcroft transmissions do a mod for the diff, you could always drop them an email with reguards to the gearbox as thats what they specialist

Hi Nigel, the front propshaft should have had the recall replacement by now. It should now have a hardy spicer uj at each end. Crawl under and check. If it's only got the one it needs that freebie done before you buy. I believe the problems mentioned came about due to the unmodified shaft putting a strain on the output shaft of the g'box and the splines on the prop shaft were tempered better than the front diff it bolted to, so it tended to need replaced as well, as the male splines got chewed up too. Super motors though!
