I know we all get fed up with folk continually posting questions like "will ????? seats fit my Defender', but Ive just aquired two front leather Range Rover P38 seats that Im collecting this weekend.

So now that Ive already bought them, has anyone else fitted these into their Defender?

No, its a 110, so there is some room behind the seat.

The seats are 21" wide at the widest point, similar to the Defender seat. Figured that seeing as ive now removed the cubby box, then there should be enough room between the two?

Only paid £50 for the pair, so hopefully I could sell them if they were unsuitable. Only time will tell:rolleyes:

I think the depth of the seat base compared with a standard defender seat will be a lot thicker, so either get a smaller steering wheel, somehow lower the seat mounts or buy a large pry bar to get your legs out from between the seat and steering wheel :D

Fortunately Ive already fitted a small steering wheel (to allow for my belly:D) so hopefully they will fit.

I think you will have to make the box it sits on lower. Defenderseats are very low profile, i tryed fitting a jaguar XJ6 seat (that i am now sitting on as a desk chair) to my drivers side but it was way too high, legs dident fit under the steering wheel! The seats in my P38 are even higher than these Jag seats!

This is the chair that dident fit.

woods767, looks like I'm soon going to have two P38 office chairs:D

With a slight modification to the runners, they would fit onto the seat box. But previous posters were correct, the seat bases are too thick, meaning there isn't enough headroom to sit on them properly. Shame, as they are great seats.

Gunna put them up for sale:mad:

Spent some more time messing with these seats today and they might end up fitting in ok.

Ive only messed with the passenger seat, took my defender seat out and placed the P38 seat in, once its been reclined slightly there appears to be sufficient headroom for me. Going to try the drivers seat tomorrow. If all is ok the Ill ask my mechanic to weld a metal plate to them so they fit to the seat box.

Though a standard sized steering wheel would make it rather tight!

Update to follow.

i have a 1984 90 that could do with some new seats. What can you suggest for most comfort/ease of fitting/not too expensive?
