Evening all,
I need some advice and am hoping for some input from fellow forum members.
I have a factory 14L 200tdi Rangey Classic. 1993 vintage. I've owned it about 18 months and, apart from a crunchy second gear which is easy to drive around, it's been a brilliant car in that time. It's taken us all over the country from Scotland to Cornwall and not once let us down.
Recently I took it for an MOT and it failed on rust too close to the front nearside body mount plus an anti roll bar link.
Being someone who likes to do a proper job I brought it home and started stripping it down and prodding with a screwdriver. Luckily I have a garage in which to work.
Well it transpires the rust is really really bad. Boot floor is horrendous. Both front inner wings are bad. Inner and outer sills shot (one side worse than other). Rear wing has a hole near the seatbelt mount. Rust on floor next to transmission tunnel. The list goes on.
I blame a lot of it on sopping wet sponge-like underlay
What would you do?
1. Put it on Ebay - what's it worth?
2. Weld it up which would take me for ever but would give a lot of satisfaction when complete
3. Whip out engine and boxes, sell/scrap the rest and use them for a series conversion at some point in the future.
Thanks for any suggestions !
Will
