range rover 2.5 speed problem!!!!!

Range rover will not accealarate like it should,

The car was fine until the other day and now it will not go much faster than 50mph once i have built up to it and that can take 3 mins from a standing start,

The car has gone very sluggish but does not smoke?
The sight of any slight hill and the car will drop down to 30mph!!!

Can anybody shed some light i am begging?????????????

Just a guess Injectors? get some wonder cleaner stuff from your local auto dealer and give them a clean first off, dirty diesel crud in the tank?

Does the engine rev freely when in neutral as this will help to find if its an engine/fuel or drivetrain problem,When you hit a hill do you find the car revving highly but going nowhere as this could be a worn clutch.Also what year and size engine is in the vehicle?

he says its a 2.5

check the intercooler and pipes for air leaks

Could be turbo related as above check all your air hoses, also check your coolant levels in case of head gasket probs.

Has anybody thought about the fuel filter ? Start simple !

On "my other car" these were classic symptoms of mas/maf failure.
My 51 diesel has one, not sure of your model but worth checking.
