I have a 2.5 petrol engine in my series III and want to raise the compression ratio from 8.1 to 9.1. I've been told that I'll need to machine 1mm off the head, is this correct? Any ideas or comments?

my old man took off 140 thou the engineering firm thought he was mad but was the fastest 2.25 motor ive ever been in

I saw the speedo needle against the stop pin when my older bro drove it. It did have an overdrive and was maintained regardless every 2 weeks checked over fully.

Old skool tuning nothing finer.
I dont know how much will need to come off but it may be worth fitting bigger valves as well while it is off and a mild porting job wouldnt hurt.

Depends really on why you are doing it as just rising the compression alone wont do much.
