I have a 1995 P38.

There is a buzzing noise coming from the driver's door speakers. When I waggle the wiring loom to the door, the noise diminishes, but does not stop.

We have had loads of rain recently and my garage has been working in the steering column area, fitting a new indicator stalk.

Any ideas?

you've caught a bee? :D

is it on the rear speaker if you wind the fader back, is it on the rear speaker if not it could be grit or debris behind the baffle bouncing off the speaker cone...or the cone could have failed try a dfferent speaker on the wire...let us know what you find...cartman690...

Thanks Cartman.

The buzz is constant, with the volume at zero. I suspect inerference from somewhere, perhaps due to a partial short due to water ingress or damaged wire.

My Mum has just got a 1999 DHSE with the same radio problem, the buzz only coming from the drivers lower speaker. I removed the head unit to check the wires and radio itself, the wiring was fine but if I gave the head unit a bit of a hard bash and the buzzing stopped.
A dry or broken connection in the radio seems to be the fault on this one.

After looking around forums it seems to be a common problem with this model (the clarion radio I believe) and a fitter confermed my theory. I am going to see if it can be repaired or will have to look for a new one.

Id just check this before you start looking for a wireing problem.

Fitting an off the shelf radio is not easy, as the P38 system does not have standard ISO connections/wiring. I was quoted a small fortune by a car audio specialist when I was considering this option.

My radio display was almost non-existent, but I managed to pick up a P38Clarion head unit (without CD function) on eBay for much cheapness and swapped out the display module.

The ones with CD changer function are quite rare and tend to command a high price on eBay.

Hi everyone.

We took the faulty Clarion head unit to a radio repair shop, (the type with the CD Changer connections) it was sent away and has come back working fine. The cost was £50 but its well worth it considering the £400+ Land Rover want for a new one.
