Hi there,
was hoping someone here with loads of experience can help out.
my current drive (2005 TD4) is having issues with a cracked T fitting.
searched high and low online for replacement parts but it seems to be out of production.
part no PCH500370.
then tried to fabricate a metal one but when i took it apart apparently there is some kind of valve located on the T fitting. how important is that valve or can i just fabricate a straight thru T fitting made out of metal?
appreciate it if someone can kindly help.
thank you so much.
best regards,
ken

Has yours got a FBH fitted, is it one of these ?

The brown 'T' goes to the FBH & I think is the one you mention the p/no for & seems like it is N/L/A.

Ya looks like it. But in the diagram it’s the ones circled in red. One of them has a valve within, I think it’s the one numbered 16.

Which one has failed, the upper one or lower one?

I don't think the upper T piece has a valve, but the lower one does, if there's a fuel burning heater installed. I believe the valve prevents heated water from the FBH being cooled by the radiator.

There are universal T pieces available, and in line valves too, if you want to make something up. Otherwise try Advanced Factors in Southampton, who are pretty good and might be able to source the hose for you. ;)

Both T fittings are goner. Yes, the upper one doesn't have a valve in it. the lower one does.
Also i live in Malaysia.
I've exhausted all possibilities trying to get them from online shops. No3 is possible to get but No16 has been discontinued. And that's the one with the valve.
So i thought of fabricating locally out of metal but not sure what the function of the valve is and whether it is critical.
Thus i'm getting help.

I'm not 100% sure myself on the function of that valve. It could be there to keep coolant flowing through the heater at low RPM diverting excess away at high RPM. I'll see what I can find out about it's function.

If you're in Malaysia you won't be needing the fuel burning heater - and could probably do without the cabin heater! So the valve may not be of much use to your anyway. However be a bit careful if you decide to block anything off as I believe the IRD cooler is plumbed in around the hoses going to the heater matrix - although I believe its also debatable whether that is needed as well.

Thank you Thank you Nodge68 and GrumpyGel for your kind assistance.
GrumpyGel, I've blanked out the IRD by the way making it 2WD.

I can't find any information on the valve in that T piece. So I'd be tempted to fit a conventional one in its space. Universal T pieces are available in various sizes from China, at very low prices. ;)

Hi, sorry I was wrong saying the hose with the brown T (& valve) goes to the FBH it actually goes to the bottom radiator hose, see pics. It seems the top (black) T is still available & a reasonable price to boot.

Sorry about the second pic. being duplicted.

Thank you very much for your kind assistance guys.
Will it be safe to just fit a regular T?
Where can I find decent ones?

That's what I'd do. I'd also pull the old one apart, to see if it's pressure sensitive or temperature sensitive, or even just a one way valve, which is what I think it is.

Nodge68, pardon my ignorance but how do you check whether it’s pressure or temperature sensitive?
Really thank you for your help.
