I'm with aa , only had to use them once but the bloke was a "very nice man". Told them on phone it was fuel pump. Within half hour they turned up I told him I'd located a pump about 15 mile away he went to get it lent me his tools to fit it and followed my the 10 miles to work to check it was ok. Very nice man , very very nice man.

green flag all the way for me. been with them for years and been recovered and repaired in allsorts of vehicles from allover the country. even had one of the vans collected from a job away with cambelt fail to my local mechanic back home without needing to go with it. Had the 90 recovered after some serious offroad fun in wales and never had a problem, mind ive never come accross ratty for any of my recoveries yet.
Ps only kidding ratty.

I get free European break down cover with my insurance policy with Footman James. I haven't had to use it for my Range Rover yet but they were great when my Morris Minor broke down in the back arse of Devon.

There all as bad as each other I had a problem on Sunday with my discovery 2 towing an 8-5m caravan when I got a water leak ( bleed nipple ) on top rad pipe it would / was a 5 min job but they wanted to just recover us even before the even arrived that was green flag via caravan club ended up fixing it myself

If thats your Range Rover in your avatar picture I'm not surprised you haven't needed recovery yet. Have you got Home Start cover?!!:D

Was with the AA 20 years ago in Liverpool and had a 109 Ambulance, shredded half shaft going round a corner to fast! AA man came, found fault and sourced part... I didn't have the cash to pay for it so he lent it to me. He then picked up the part and found a workshop where he could fit it and I was on the road half day later. What a star...

Had to call out AA again 6 months ago on a Renault Trafic, split hose. Nice guy but didn't seem to know too much but did a temp job to get me to a garage.

It does seem to be very dependent on who comes to your aid - I had 2 distributors go on my disco, the 1st wasn't diagnosed. The 2nd time the chap brought out full electrical testing gear and diagnosed that the module had gone in under 5 minutes! He then checked if he had a module that would fit.. he didn't but the effort was excellent!

One of the AA chaps up here will chat for hours if you have a Landy. I needed to use the AA to get a Hilux started (unreliable jap crap) and when he clocked my P38 he stayed for over an hour talking pros and cons of Defenders, Discos and Range Rovers.

My gearbox fall apart in Kettlewell on my series last year, I told the AA I would need recovering however they still sent the smaller van who showed up after an hour or so, then phones for a flatbed which showed up after another hour and a bit.
Good job there was a pub nearby!

im with aa, never had a problem to be honest, and when i did break down they sent a flat bed straight out to me. took a bout 40 mins.
green flag subcontract a lot because they dont have enough patrols of their own, Think about it, how many of their vans do you see???

Answer is NONE.

G/flag vans you see on the road belong to independent garages.

Errm isnt most recovery trucks based on 7.5t wagons and as so can carry around 4.5t of load? So easly carry a rongerover

Depending on the make/ model most 7.5 ton flat beds can only carry just and just over 2.5 tons.

You are correct. It is often down to the individual that comes out as to the level of service you receive.

yet can any one tell me they have been fix,d at the side of the road when its been a landy because all i hear about is they manage to fix 99 percent of break downs, so i just carry most of the stuff that seems to go down on the old rangie

Look at the little asterix beside that statement and then read the small print at the bottom of the screen. It usually says summit like 'vehicles attended by our own patrols'. ;)

I rekon I probably fix about 80% of landys I attend at the roadside if it makes you feel any better.

Don't know why this thread has been resurrected but I've just paid £40 in Tesco vouchers for another year's RAC recovery service for both me and her. Only called them once in the three years I've been doing this and got excellent service.
Must say that I've had Green Flag on company vans for many years, used them a few times and Ratty's mob are great.

....whilst the rest of those he should have been helping waited endlessly!!!!!
