evening people, after a couple months driving my 200disco with a defender t-box I'm now fed up of how low geared it is. Flat out is 55 at just over 3k revs. Got a 96 300tdi sat in the yard with box still on it so was wondering if the r380 t-box bolts up to the lt77 box?
Ta
Kerby.

Yes will fit.
But to avoid future confusion the r380 is the 300 gearbox, lt77 is the pre 300 gearbox back to the dawn of time ann available in many ratios, the transfer box is called an lt230 available in umpteen ratios, ratio is on a sticker on the rear of the tfer box.

Ive never had a sticker on any of mine lol usually have to wire brush the casing to see the stamped numbers
then check ashcrofts site to see what ratio it is.:)

That should be ok for the speedo drive then.;)
I find I’m not into 5th until 60. Then it just sits there then. I’m running 7.50s

At the mo I'm on the all terrains which are 245/65/16 I believe but have just repaired a hole in my 35" 285s so will just use them on play days
35" 285's????? o_O

If you want to run the Defender 1.4:1 transfer box, you'll want a 7.50 x 16 or a 235/85R16 tyre. You'll then have identical gearing to a Defender.... ;)
