R380 gearbox ???

my td5 box is noisy in 5th and its showing signs of heavy towing, ie drive train slap. she as done 196thou

question is, can i just bolt a R380 300tdi gearbox to my transfer box, or is it not that simple?

thing is, i only paid £1000 for the thing and dont fancy spending £500 on a gearbox. thanks in advance.

boxes arent interchangeable but many parts are ,if its only noisy in 5th it could be repaired without full strip down

im quite handy with the spanners, so wouldn't mind having ago at that, especially if it will save me some beer tokens. thing is, im still trying to find my way round this fantastic and friendly forum, you wouldn't be able to point me in the right direction for a thread or link to under take such a task would you please.

no , i can tell you how to do it though,but you will need to be able to pull seal collar off and undo 32mm nut battery or air gun been the easiest

if you do have a go after draining stand bell housing down on 2 bits of wood etc so input shaft is clear ,after removing collar there are 10 bolts holding rear housing to box plus 1 interlock help by 10mm headed bolt ,case will then tap off
