r380 gearbox input shaft

I need to change the input shaft on my r380 from the longer shaft to the shorter one. The box was rebuilt about a year ago and has not been used
so still nice and clean. Is it a really bad idea to have a go myself or should I find a co willing to tackle the job. Any idea if the torque bolt size that hold the two halves of the case together.....

If the box is out, and depending where yu are, I would recomend Janesmartin. He seems to know his stuff on gearboxes.

Yes the box is out - it's never been in since I bought it as a recon box for a different project - just sat on the shelf - never even been filled with oil ....

count teeth on new shaft has it got 22

bolts are jusy bihex 10 mm headed ,rear seal collar would ned pulling off ,rear case removing ,5th gear from main shaft 5th and reverse from lay shaft ,front case then old input can be removed and bearing race and bearing swapped over

Thanks very much for the help - counted splines several times - pretty sure it's 24 but a 130 clutch plate slides straight on.....is there anything special I need to purchase - gaskets/silicone etc - will see if my local eng firm has a suitable puller -

Whoops...22 teeth yes ...

be sure as some have 21 and wont work only 22 will ,input to main shaft bearing (uck8l)is important 2 parts stay together ,race inside input is removable

Counted again - 22 teeth - is there anything I need to purchase for the changeover - gaskets etc....thanks again

no gaskets just silicone or similar ,seal ftc5303, can you swap bearings over ?

Any special silicone !! Will order up the seal ...
Never swapped bearings over before - am I likely to damage them -

can be tight and need careful removal if reusing ,any silicone thats oil/heat resistant ,nut on rear of layshaft is 32mm i use gun as you dont need anything apart from your hand to lock the shaft from spinning

Already stuck just splitting the box -
Remote gear change lever all removed -
Reverse selector spool retainer removed
All ten bolts removed
Housing comes apart by about an 1/8 inch then stops
Please could you tell me what I might have missed
