Okay, so this weekend I'm planning on fitting the new suspension. Whilst it's apart, thought it would make sense to clean up/paint/rust proof those areas, right?
Only thing is I'm so lost as to which bits need painting...do I even paint or go straight to waxoyl...what sort of paint etc etc.
My original plan was strip, pressure wash, dry, paint with hammerite, wait, second coat, wait, waxoyl, re-assemble with new bits. Obviously this only around the wheel arch areas, the chassis will have to wait. But is that the right sort of thing to do? Do I even need to paint it? Is hammerite still any good? (recommended by my dad, but he's noticed it's not as potent as it used to be)
Complete beginner...but keen to learn, so any help would be great! Just getting lost after trawling the internet, so many contradicting posts, and a lot of it is old information. The more I read the more confused I am! Ahhhhh!

Thanks in advance!

Well I may not be right, but i just clean up the area and paint it with hammerite - not the spray can rubbish, but from a tin.

If you have any surface rust make sure you get rid before painting, and if any proper rust repair it.
