quick help? steering track rod

Help :)

Just went to replace track rod tube asnits shaped like a banana snf the track rod ends are shot away.

Question are the LH thread?
Rh thread?
Or one of each?

I've tried to undo the old ones to see but the arnt coming out without alot of effort and time which I don't have because I need it back on the road today.

1 x LH and 1x RH... if you can find a good oem supplier it is sometimes easier to just replace the whole track rod complete with ends...

Got mine to do tomorrow ... well just the ends. Busters guide is good to follow but the critical part is measuring the threads to make sure they go back as they were. Not sure if this will matter with a bent track rod so best be safe and get the tracking checked afterwards. You can also count the number of turns it takes to remove an end and then screw the new one in with the same amount. Sprayed mine with WD40 a couple of times to give the clamps chance to free up a little. Good luck.
 
All done couldn't get old ones out to count threads measured and re-measured. Think ill get the tracking done tomoro just to be sure.

Not a bad job tbh if I didn't have to pop out for bits it wudda only taken 45 mind from spanners out to spanners away.
 
when removing ball joints you hit end of arm with the hole for ball joint and they pop out without damaging ball joint ,removing ball joint from rod you hit betwqeen two hammers or one on something hard around rod and as far as thread goes in and you can unscrew them by hand if done enough
 
James. I managed to get ball joint out of arm easy.

But I couldn't budge the track rod ends out of tube no matter how hard I hit the tube twisted heated cut. They just werent budging mind you the amount of rust and frap in the balljoints leads me to believe they maybe the originals!!!
 
I replaced mine a couple of months back. I counted the threads as I unscrewed the old ends, and then put the new ones in to the same point. My test drive was pretty disappointing - the Landy felt even worse to drive! I got the tracking checked at the local tyre place and it was well out. They charged me a tenner to check and adjust it - the difference in driving afterwards was significant!
 
Mates a mechanic he guna take it in on a foreigner on saturday afternoon sort the tracking for me for a pint or two! Bargain.

James, every little helps! Im sure someone will stumble upon the thread and break out the hammers. :p
 
Fitted my new track rod ends this afternoon .. bit of a bugger getting the old ones out so I tried James method and after a few whacks out they popped. Managed to unscrew one easily in the vice but the other took loads of hammering before it moved. Anyway, copper greased the threads, re-fitted and all good. Quick question though ... the new ends have grease nipples on, I'm assuming these come ready greased or should I need to do it straight away? Ta.
