Hi all I posted a thread the other day regarding my freelander, it was losing power and felt like not running on all cylinders, also making a knocking noise all these things intermittently, well this morning I have just walked 5 miles home, car started to lose power again only this time, it suddenly revved like it was out of gear, I checked gear still ingear, lifted off clutch and still it revved like in neutral its a manual, so I bumped up kerb switvched off, restarted it pulls like it going to go, but will not move like I have handbrake on this is in all gears and reverse. any ideas? clutch, thrust bearing, what do you reckon?

Nope not my clutch, been told either transfer box of gear box locked. The clutch is trying to move car, why is it never a cheap answer? all the other problems with the running are the injectors one isn't showing any change on diagnostics tool. thats bit of a relief. Just hoping its not the transfer box as thats £700 :(

So next question whos got a 2004 freelander transfer box or gear box hanging around taking up space :D

Hi again, opinions needed please.

It is the dual mass flywheel that has exploded, thankfully not done any damage to anything else.

My options £600 dual mass clutch kit
or
solid flywheel kit at £290

My BIL is advising dual mass as he says the solids make the clutches go quicker, make a not so good feel clutch pedal, noisy, and just allround not so good in cars, hes fitted them in transits and says they work well in them, but has had cars come back as the owners think they haven't been fitted properly and he says its just the feel of them are not good. but my thing is I don't do huge amount of miles or off road this car, its just an A2B car.

Injectors still need doing so I could still be looking at more money on top of all this.

What would your honest opinion be what would you do?

im not a fan of replacing dual mass with solid flywheel as dual mass has much greater damping effect ,but if you do low mileage and need not to spend the extra cash ,fit the solid
