Occasionally I can see a clear liquid dripping from underneath the car - I've always assumed it was condensation from the a/c, however on closer inspection it seems to be coming off the bottom of the transmission sump, the driver's side at the front corner to be precise, it's not ATF, it's not coolant (too clear) could it be brake fluid? Do any pipes run near there? Rear washer?

It probably is AC drain water, the drain outlets are above the front of the gearbox and the water tends to drip onto the gearbox and off the sump, so your assumption is probably correct. Try SaintV8's taste guide, you won't poison yourself, and his is a pretty good guide. I presume you're not loosing any fluids which would give an indication? The AC can dump quite a lot of water mind.

Phew that's a relief! Sounds like it is the AC then. I am loosing a bit of coolant one of the rubbish spring clips is losing its spring - have to replace it with a Jubilee.
