Freelander 2 (LR2) Putting Range Rover wheels on freelander 2... Help needed!

Hi,

I've just bought a 2009 Land Rover freelander 2. The wheels are old and I've got a set of Range Rover wheels. Can anyone recommend what conversion kit I can use to adapt the Range Rover wheels to the freelander 2? Preferably links to the website/Ebay page to save confusion.

Also, are there any horror stories about putting Range Rover wheels on freelancers that I need to know ?

What Range Rover are the wheels from? I'm assuming it's the L322? They're aren't suitable for the FL2 in stud pattern, centre bore or offset.

The RR wheels that fit the FL2 are from the Evoque.
Discovery Sport and some Ford Kuga rims will also fit.

They're off a Range Rover sport. I've been told I can buy spacers to adapt the Range Rover wheel to the freelander 2 off eBay??

They won't fit a FL2. The PCD, centre bore and offset are completely wrong. The only way to mount them would be to fit some form of converter and that will push the rims outside the arches.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and buy rims designed to fit the FL2s hubs.

Ask whoever told you that , to show you where from.. If they were the peep that sold the wheels, ask for your money back.

Cheers mate, much appreciated. I thought as much. I'll put this one down to experience eh I can't believe there are different configurations between different cars from the same manufacturer! Bonkers!!!

Only saving grace is that I got an absolute bargain so I'll be able to sell em on for a profit or I can put them on my Vw T5.

It wasn't the bloke who sold them to me. This was a local tyre fitting specialist and another mechanic I where I bought the car from. I think it is possible from what I've been told but may mean the wheels stick out...

Google is your friend when it comes to wheel information.

The reason the stud pattern is so very different between the FL2 and larger LRs is simple. The vehicles were based on completely different platforms from the outset.
The RR Sport, Discover 3 and RR all use the LR PCD from the later Discovery 2 and is designed for vehicles with a mass of up to 3 Tons or so.

The FL2 is actually based on a modified Ford EUCD platform, which shares many components with the Ford Mondeo including the wheel mounting sizes.
It's designed for vehicles with a mass of around 2 Tons.

You can get pcd/center bore adaptors, but they will be at least 20mm thick.

Would they put a lot of unwanted stress on the hubs as well?

At over £225 a set of adapters. It would be cheaper and safer to sell the incorrect wheels and buy a set of correctly fitting wheels.
