Hi everyone
I'm wanting to get into offroading with my Discovery and have been looking at winches. Many offroaders and my local Land Rover man have expressed excitement about the fact that my Disco has a PTO and inform me that I should be well pleased about this!

But where do I find PTO winches, or are they called something else? All the ones I've seen are electric winches. I haven't got the necessary for big budget jobs (think Britpart!), but does anyone know who sells them?

Another small point - I'm about to change the blown engine, as well as the original (200Tdi) box and transfer, to 300Tdi ones and have the donor car ready and about to enter the workshop. Will this mess up the PTO in any way? I am no mechanic and don't fully understand how it's connected :)

Cheers for your advice in advance!

No, just a PTO under the car. But I'm told it would be stupid to start mucking about with electric winches and the necessary 2nd battery, split charge etc, with that under there!

suppose you could always run a hydraulic pump off the pto to a hydraulic winch,
i would go electric m8, unless you are doing challenge events or planning on dragging yourself across miles or crap then you shouldn't really need a split charge system or a second battery and if you do think you need em just call it a project and take longer to do it:D
