proud of my p38 today

I was at work on the building site and a artic lorry pulled up fully loaded with roof trusses asked for directions to another site, he went to pull off and sat there on the snow & ice and couldnt move back or forward and asked if i could tow him with the forklift, as he was blocking entrance that wasnt poss so I said i would give it a go with the range rover and he laughed so I hooked up to him and gave it ago and towed him the 50 yards to where the road was clear, he said didnt think you would even stand a chance of doing it, so I was quite impressed with how well it did

did have a little doubt, but did have a nice smell of burning clutch afterwards:laugh:

yes you got that right one thats 3 meters long and just about to be replaced as nearly out of test

I got a load of 2mtr / 2tonne round slings (8 IIRC) off the truck that delivered the rebar mesh to my last job. Brand new used once. Not allowed to be reused??? suits me sir

If you are going to try and pull something like that which is the strongest point on the P38, the tow bar or the tow eye?

That would be the lower part of any of the plastic trim clips that hold the door cards on...

Thing is ya not pulling a dead load the Lorry is adding it's own forwards momentum (however slight) and Ice has a very lo drag coefficient (where's them bloody students when Ya need em) so all ya doing really is providing some assisted traction..

If it's a genuine LR tow hitch I would say that is the strongest tow point, some of the aftermarket ones like on my 96 are very weak.

Presumably the swan neck bolt in towing ball is genuine LR?

yes i used the towbar its the genuine swan neck type didnt fancy trying the towing eye as thought that would be the one that would snap 1st
