is it worth changing the damper when doing the bearings if so where would you buy from?

If it ain't bust, don't touch it IMO. Inspect it carefully: if showing signs of detaching itself, then replace

The condition of the VCU is more important than the condition of the mass damper. Do the one wheel up test and check it's OK.

I've used strong silicone sealant to resecure a damper that was looking dodgy. It lasted for years.
