When it comes to se
Does anybody recognise the se two pieces? The first part fell out of the dash, the second is a cable that routes round the drivers footwell pillar and back aft under the carpet, it is too short to reach the radio so I am guessing some kind of car phone kit?

Did alll the kit on the car work before?

if so then that cable(s) could be surplus wiring, IIRC could be my cloudy memory, but LR either 1995 or 1997 onwards did fit production P38s with the ability to have a hands free phone fitted, and to keep thigs simple on the ones without this spec they just left the wiring..

Will have to consult the RR Bible for reference.

Anyone reading this feel free to correct me.

not seen them before , 2nd one apart from attached connector it looks like some kind sensor plug ?? .see where it runs back too , is it part of front loom or secondary unit ?? the first white " cup" loos like a vent pipe sheath ?? not sure maybe rave would reveal or cleverer people than me , but only trying to help ,,,, keep the faith monkfish your getting nearer to the end ,,,,well done kind regards mozz

I believe it all worked, some crumby speaker wire had been used to replace the snapped cables in the door loom. I've taken it out, i'll let it get to the point where it annoys me loads and I will repair it :D

That cable was taped up and left under the drivers dash.

Cheers Mozz, still loads to do, it needs a deep clean to get it back to RR standard. It will be my farm vehicle but also needs to look the part!
I love the car and have seen a few around recently but not that many, can't wait to get that V8 rumbling around Cornwall and the UK :D

Ah! so probably surplus wiring like I thought.

making good headway with this project now!

Cheers Henry,
Yeah, starting to tot up a few more jobs as it comes apart and back together.
The drivers seat just isn't right, it rocks back and forward, it's heating element has failed and the stitching has gone on the piping, I think it's probably more worth while just replacing it.
The headlining is falling, so that will get replaced at some point.
The stereo is in a right state, the door looms have chafed and snapped, the wiring behind the head unit section is a mess and has been chopped to fit an aftermarket. The stereo is a HK stereo should sound quite nice once sorted.
Next job though is a winch bumper :D but I want something that protects the radiator and steering .

I hate people who are clipper happy and go balls deep in the wiring without knowing anything, just snipping random wires and messing stuff up!:D

You'll get it together though i'm sure..

The HK system does sound sweet

A few P38 breakers on ebay usually have seats available, heck they'll sell you a complete interior for a few hundred notes ;) ;):D

Winches were a factory option on a select few P38, Mine had one, still has the chassis brackets only found out because it has an outstanding recall regarding the iffy winch solenoids or some such

Winch is MIA at the moment as is the stock winch bumper  shame.

They were fitted with a 8000lb warn winch IIRC.

You might be able to find an Factory winch if the Rocking horse crap and hens teeth salesman show up :D

Well I started off with a cheap dead freelander with no engine and now have a turbo petrol 200bhp freelander :D I like projects!

I was just ebaying for seats and there are none on there! :O

I noticed that, it's actually the best looking winch for the P38. I'll keep my eye out, I've got lucky with a few things that are rare for LR :D

Anyway..

Good to have some nice projects ;)

Not seen any OEM phone wiring on my 99 or 00 although the latter did have some after market phone wiring which I removed.

Avoid Skitt on Ebay for seats, rip off merchant.

Well @Henry_b , you can officially say, I told you so! :D:D:D:eek:

Started the P38 up the other day after it's rebuild and ran ok, albeit a little rough.

Got the dash back together today, sorted the blowing manifold, was quite happy hoovering the car interior and go to start her up and it turns over once and then locks up......

Pulled spark plugs out of the bank that I screwed up and Lo and behold, wet spark plug and a cylinder full of water.

Yup! I broke the HG!

Yeah, do it nice or do it twice is the old expression!
It was always going to be a risky chance but better it's gone now while it's being worked on.
When I motored it over with no spark plug, it sprayed water everywhere in the bonnet so must have been a fair bit in there!
I will get it all apart tomorrow. Now I know how to get it apart, it should be easy. as long as a head bolt hasn't let go! o_O

Still, on the upside, blend motors are working fine now and O rings are done.

did you loosen the headbolts and re-torque them? after the incident?
Yeah, I loosened them all off, replaced the ones I had overtightened and did them all in sequence again, but as you said before, might have squished the HG too much and now it's got gaps.
