Very smart motor those D3's ;)

That interior is nice.

Last pic looks like my P38 exept mine is only partially gutted due to no space to put stuff that i take off ;)

Do hope this thread wont drive everyone nuts, lol

Pah! - we're already nuts or we wouldn't be here :D - You carry on - I, for one enjoy reading about your exploits :)

made sure it was a decent one as heard so many stories of cheap fuel filters causing issues

Amen. Nothing worse that cheap filters .... I've mentioned this before --- but.... I ordered an engine oil filter for me digger, as one does ;) ... some noname box came, which was so light, I genuinely thought there was nothing in it .... I weighed the "filter" within - just about 200 grams:eek: ..... I then bought a genuine Hitachi filter ... and weighed that ... 780 grams .... Draw your own conclusions... but I sent the noname thing back.... Funny thing is, there wasn't much price difference  - 25% more for the genuine

Just hung the panel up as a test so I know where I can hang it after I start spraying, plus won’t be a problem if it starts raining as with it being under this cover

Plus now got the paint I need and some extra wet and dry pads for my Dremel , along with some wet and dry sheets for hand Sanding , thought the Dremel would be ideal because of its adjustable speed and small sanding pads

Need to just use the Dremel to take off some rough spots on the edges so that it will sit flat on the body panel

Oh and my best pal that’s always by my side , will shut her indoors when I spray and ensure all the windows are closed

Door light now done

Waiting for my AC condenser to turn up, , got one off the D3 forum brand new for £50 , doesn’t come with the O rings and refused to buy them one by one at outrageous prices,

So bought kit and some stainless A2 bolts for the condenser , comes with a new dryer as well , pretty sure the A2 stainless won’t react with aluminium

Got plenty of gauges / vacuum gauges etc so can recheck for any leaks after fitting the new condenser

Will be replacing front bumper so will do it when I remove that

But need to get the scuttle panel done first then one step at a time

Thks and pleased to hear its of interest , it’s going to be a long thread, hold on to ur hat , lol

Plus 1 ref the filters , another thing that I don’t understand when some buy K and N air filters and remove the external air intake to the outside

So then the air filter is sitting inside a hot engine bay , even though the car manufacturer have spent extensive technical tests to ensure the factory fitted designed system works to its optimum

Also D3s like genuine Denso alternator, cheap ones by the looks of it can make the dashboard light up like a xmas tree

Engine oil filter I’ve personally always bought genuine only

Bloody hell you've been in deep there mate

Am just warming up, just wait until i start opening up the main engine fuse box, to retrofit some looms in that I’ve already prepared

Must have spent a good 12 x months sitting down doing little projects whilst sitting at the table and working things out

Know I’m my own worst enemy , ensuring everything is done just right

Same as we all are to be honest , super landy ocd

There they are lol, got all new clips for the A pillar panels and scuttle

Also some 90 degree terminals so will sit better on the back of the new dashboard gauge panel

Also got a hose and gauge for the filter change , has the shrieder valve at the back of the engine used as a test point for the LP fuel side

So though fit the hose I’ve got , turn ign on and allow fuel into a clean jam jar, then use that to pre fill the new fuel
filter

Know I won’t be able to lean across the engine to do the oil filter

Spent tonight this morning sorting out the loom to retrofit the heated windscreen washer jets

Also used a multimeter and tested each wire is sound and no breaks in the wires

Well, the little jobs should keep me busy for a while, lol

Will worry about the other bits later, as when there done will really bring it up to a good standard

@1988smithy

Hi mate

Well sat down and tested that usb , no good as it’s supplying 12 volts at 1.2 amps , so back to the drawing bored for that

So will fit a factory usb in the panel and get an aux socket small enough so can drill it into that metal panel , something like a 10mm hole

But before I do anything I’m wondering ref the blanking plates either side of the factory radio , to see what access is like

Will wire it directly into the back of my radio but at least can get on with the other bits

Added a few more pics for ur entertainment, lol
