Project 90 300TDI shi**er

What a ball ache it is getting old corroded seat bolts out.

I've cut the head off 2 bolts so far:





But am stumped on how to get access to the 2 rear centre seat bolts.

Any ideas ?

Worked it out, access was from underneath!.

You can get vinyl exchange seats for £300 ish from sams trim. I had leather centre so paid a little more. Excellent value

you can buy noo covers and foam squabs for a lot less anorl..

take ya fuel filter back off and remove the rubber washer that stayed on the spigot when ya took the old one off.

The manual mentions a dump valve in this hoisubng, but there's nowt but a rubber fanny here

That is the dumpvalve. If you're fitting a snorkel the top off a cocacola/pop bottle fits in there perfectly smother in silicone and it'll never leak..

The exhaust was probably gone 10 years ago, i'm wondering if i'd ever get the rear section off ? Otherwise i'll replace the centre section with a new straight through pipe, maybe going the whole hog and de-catting it also.

Diesels don't have a CAT!! they have a particulate filter.

Picked up some bargain wheels and tyres over the weekend.



5 x Genuine Defender alloys with General Grabber 255/65/r16 tyres

Just ordered some nuts to get them on.

Some serious crud under there....think it needs a good jet wash and scrub with a wire brush.

Chassis has seen better days :-0

As it was dry today I thought i'd have a go at a few more jobs. I tried to remove the tailpipe without success. So will get a cutting disc onto the rusty bolts next time.

So then I set about cleaning the inside as it's completely minging, being an ex farm van.

A bit of rust to sort out there I think..

The worst item was the headlining. I was expecting to have to rip it out, but I think a few packs of kitchen surface wipes have saved me a bit of money...

Well done Land Rover for using hard wearing headlining material

I think the rear door is shagged...Can you resurface these ?

That brake disc looks a tad red like it's been getting hot, do check it slides ok in the caliper and may be worth some new pads and discs.

A nice tread this and those rusty spots will clean up have you got a mig welder on the ready?

I was going to overhall the brakes after the MOT. But I agree they look in terrible shape, so I will probably replace the calipers, pads, discs and hoses before the MOT.

So a quick styling update before some serious work is done on the landy.

Managed to get 5 bargain wheels and rims on ebay for £176

they change the look completely, plus 3 out of the 4 existing tyres were illegal, so all in all a bargain way to get legal and improve the looks and off roadability

No updates recently due to planning the nect tasks. The plan is the Landy is going for chassis welding and a few jobs to get it through the MOT next Saturday. So i've got a week to get the chassis cleaned and wire brushed. Today I set about the pressure washing...

Luckily I have the seats out and panels up for cleaning (being an ex farm van there was lots of cleaning todo):

As pointed out for a forum member, the front discs looked cooked, pointing to a piston sticking. So I decided to order some new front calipers, discs and pads also. I planned to change them after the MOT, but as I shall be driving the car about 60 miles after it's MOT I decided it wasn't worth any risk.

How about this for a bit of recycling. The bumper has certainly seen some action. I was contemplating getting a new one, but I thought to myself, why not have a go at straightening it out. It wont be perfect, but I think it would be a good example of my intentions here...turn a complete ****ter into a decent well looked after Landy on a budget. So here's the results so far with a bit of brute force...
