3 coats of Tekaloid later on the back of the new rear door. The colour is darker, but that's because the paintwork on the landy hasn't probably been touched since it rolled out of the factory in 1998. The finish is pretty poor, so I shall be spraying the front of the door instead

The paintowrk is faded and scratched, expected as it's been a working van all it's life

your new rear door looks very similar to the door I've got fitted to ma 110. It came fitted. Is it after market? If so be careful mines rotting already and the door stay channel has bent out of shape and has started to snap away from the panel. I waxoiled my door when I bought the 110 in January but is started wea the orange cancer. .....an to top it off if you fit the spare wheel onto the door you can see the door deform....

I,m now hunting for a genuine door that requires some repair.

Tekaloid is good but ya can't "Just touch it up" when it gets scratched. so bit of a pain really.

If you have a search on here Nobber did a complete resto of his 90 and painted the lot. Looked lovely when it was done.

Aye this is true but a genuine door would last at least a year before it starts to crummble

Hi All,
Well 2 jobs have really taken me an age to progress. Changing the rear suspension mounts and the dreaded fuel tank removal. I must say the tank removal was a real bastid of a job, and I gave up multiple times. And I think the threads on the old mounts had gone some time ago and resulted in some wayward behavior, but due to rusty nuts the previous owner clearly didn't resolve the issue.

This is my new friend....

And finally, the old leaking tank!



The tank has taken my time over a period of 2 months...bloody horrible job!!!!!!

Looking good. The tank can be a pain alright. Did mine with the help of a mate, thought it would only take a couple of hours, we started at about 7pm and finished at about 6am!

Well the tank is in. The pickup and return metal bits are rotten and leaking, so I should get some new ones tomorrow in the post.

The rear suspension is now finished, the chassis brackets had to be changed due to work threads, and they were a real arse to grind out.



Now it's the turn of the rusty front suspension. Another ball ache....



Get a landrover they said, it's easy to fix they said....

Good progress today. Managed to get the entire front suspension off, cleaned and painted the front chassis items.



The off-side turret came off easier, especially as I made more effort to attack the turret bolts...all other options are a nigtmare...as learnt from removing the near-side.

The MOT man obviously didn't notice this little hole...

After a trip to the nut and bolt store to get some nuts that actually fit, progress was made in fitting the new front suspension. Not finished yet as there is obviously an order needed in fitting the sprint plate retaining bolt after tightening the bottom shock bolt. I will do that once I get my ring spanner out!!!

Does this look like it will collapse or kill me ?

An excellent build thread with stacks of useful pics and info mate! I will be following!
Also I've just gotteb myself a set of those irwin sockets as I was constantly borrowing a mates set and I have to say the really are an extremely valuable tool that should be recommended to all landy owners.

Well things are progressing well. The suspension is holding up well and it's starting on the button with no diesel leaks.

Time to paint the last bits of the chassis and axles





Here is how it stands today. I have a few more jobs lined up, such as paint rear door, fit some rock sliders.



Oh, and as I was in such a good mood, I traded in my sorry Merc for this baby. 2011 RRS 3.0 TDV6 8 Speed.
