Is it possible to program your own Freelander 1 v6 year 2000 key fob?

The key fob has not worked since I have owned the car. I have found a couple of dry solder joints on the circuit board and repaired them. I have replaced the battery with a new one. I have tried the 'press five times etc etc ' method. No good.

Is there a button sequence for freelanders like the one involving the bonnet switch for defenders?

I replaced the batteries in both my fobs a few years ago. In the process the plate holding the battery in became detached on 1 and it wouldn't work again after that - so it just got put in the "fruit bowl".

I recently thought it about time to sort it in case anything happens to the working one. So it took it along to my local Chinese computer repairs shop. He soldered the plate back on and it simply worked first click of the button. I say this as the car's CCU obviously doesn't forget its fobs and a fob being without a battery for a few years won't reset to become unknown. Therefore, either the fob still isn't working, or the previous owner just flicked on "any old fob" with the car that he picked up to see if it would work.

As Nodge says, a high end home diag device such as Hawkeye or Lynx will probably be able to code a working fob (or key transponder) to the car. Or else take it along to a dealer or indie LR garage and they'll be able to do it.

This didn't work for me but worth a try especially the 2nd method.I may have done Some thing wrong...but its looking like diags only.
