Unlocked my 06 TD4 to go to work using the fob as usual and found that the rear door didn't unlock. Tried again. Same result. All other doors unlocked. I then locked the doors again. There was a single honk from the horn. All doors locked. Unlocked again and rear door still locked. Drove to work and as it was raining I switched on the rear wiper. Nothing happened. Tried wash and wipe. Nothing.
I assume the single honk of the horn is telling me the gob battery needs changing. I thought that happened when unlocking too??
If it is just the fob battery, why would it affect the rear wiper and rear wash and wipe. Any advice gratefully accepted.
I probably won't be able to check anything major for a few days as I am on nights.

This is only a possibility.
Your rear door has unlocked, but your rear window mech has died.
So trying to unlock the rear door, the window trys to drop but the wire has snapped or something.
So your alarmed honked to say the rear was unsecure.
Have you tried dropping the rear window with the dash switch.

Only thinking aloud.

Mike

No, not yet as I didn't want to risk not being able to close it as it is raining heavily.
What you say makes sense.

Leave it alone til you have time to mess with it. If the rear mech has gone, just getting in the rear door is going to be a right larf:eek:
Or if it's the door handle, fun and games will abound.
Hopefully it's neither of these and some bright spark will come up with a simple solution.

Does seem to be pointing to the window mechanism then. I shall research what I need and cost just in case.

Not knowing what your weather was like this morning i.e. Frosty etc.?

You only get a honk when you lock the car and something is left open, e.g. window or door.
The car only bleeps when the fob battery is running low.

Not frosty this morning.
About 3 hours before I left for work, the rear windo worked fine as I checked my tyre pressures and needed something from the boot area.

Sounds like the rear window mechanism but if it was only that you would still be able to open the door. I had a similar issue and it turned out the connection to the handle was a bit iffy. Luckily in my case the problem was intermittent and I was able to get the door open but it still took two days to find and sort it.
Good luck but make sue you've plenty of time before trying to lower the window.

+1 on this.

When the fob battery is low there is a buzzer under the dash that beeps.

When you lock the car but a door is still open you get a honk from the horn. Is the door open light on the dash illuminated? Might be worth a read of Rave to see if there's other reasons why it would honk the horn when locking.

Is it a 3 door? Not sure how the sensors picking up the canopy being installed/off could affect this.

I just fiddled with the door handle and it clicked an I was able to pull the door open as normal.
However, the window has stayed in the closed position and now when the door is closed the window is outside the plastic cover at the top.
Help!

I have tried to push the window down but it wouldn't budge. I will try again.
Difficult to do anything as I am at work and it is dark here. No lighting.

I can close and lock the tailgate but the glass is outside that top plastic trim.
I will probably have to drive home like that. I hope the glass doesn't shatter due to being under a bit of pressure.
