Well...I bought the Freelander TD4 04 reg, about 2 weeks ago, just had a go at the reversing parking sensors and something isnt right. I press the button inside put it into reverse and get a long beep and then nothing if i get near anything, the button flashes as well, so i looked in my manual and it said if it flashes there is a fault. Anyhow i got out and wiped the sensors as i thought maybe there was some wax on them after the over zealous cleaning they did to sell it to me. It seems to work on occasions which is weird, as this morning it didnt flash and did its job that it is supposed to do, so whats going on when its faulty sometimes and not others?? any ideas?

Maybe I've read your post wrong, but you don't need to press the button to turn the sensors on, they come on automatically when you select reverse.

Edit: Argh! The person above typed faster!

Sound like one of the sensors isn't working.

Turn the ignition on to position 2 (engine not running) and place car in reverse.

Listen to each of the sensors in turn.

They should make a clicking sound. If any are silent then its faulty and needs replacing.....

I agree with this comment, check all sensors for a clicking noise when reverse is selected obviously with ignition on. If one isn't working dont assume its a faulty sensor straight away, check the wiring plug foe corosion as they are exposed to the elements and also check the wiring isn't damaged also.....

We've this issue at the moment on ours. So when you have the ignition on you should hear them clicking? So should be a process of elimination?
Is is possible to have a scan of the fault codes or would it not show up?
Thanks
Al.

Help please. One of the sensors has packed up. But how do I get at it? I took out the two bolts under the bumper that holds a plate looking thing and that's as far as I got .Coudn't get that bit off. ??

How the bloody hell did we manage to park our vehicles before parking sensors????????????? I'll tell you, we used our bloody eyes and driving skills, that's how.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

the prob with that , Rob, is that yu used to be able to see out of the back of cars. a lot of the new models, have reversing cameras as there is no rear visibility. When I queried that, I was told that it was due to "safety improvements"

Yes and I can park it but if you got the gizmos on it it's nice to have them working !! SO HOW DO I GET THE PLATE BELOW THE BUMPER OFF TO GET TO THE SENSOR ???

PLEASE .

I'm hijaaking this thread, as it is parking sensor related. I previously fixed a wiring fault inside the rear bumper of my MY2004 FL1, and the parking sensors then started worked fine for a little while, but now it is intermittently not working, with a new fault. The previous fault had the short bleep to indicate a sensor fault, now when it goes wrong it just thinks it has detected something close by and I get a continuous tone. All the sensors are clicking, and I have tried wiping each sensor with a damp rag when in the fault mode, but this makes no odds. As I understand it there are no diagnostics, so what to do at this point ?
