hi all!!! i have a defender 300 tdi it seems to be getting pressure in the header tank i have bleed the system 6-7 times to see if there's an air lock. but it seems to be flowing ok with no air at all but after running for 20 min or so the pressure is back. it not over heating thow it even has pressure if you leave it to cool down till the next day. an driving me:mad:
thanks steve

Not neccesarily. If the h/g has failed between a piston and waterway only, then it will pressurise the cooling system. If the h/g has failed between a piston, waterway and oilway then you will get emulsified coolant.

most bend along the lenth so hg goes between pots. there is a coolant gallery from the block which the gasses escape to so causing pressurisation.

if you want to have a go at doing it yourself, and want a hand i could help. if you want to pay a garage, i know a good landy indy that would take it on..

thanks for the offer j but i think am gonna get a garage to do it as i will get some sort of guarantee with it. its a bit out my league i wouldn't mine getting a number for that landy place thow if you don't mined :) an once again thanks
