Got a Disco Td5 that makes a noise from the PAS pump. Fitted new pump and water pump as well as new belt and idler or belt tensioning bearing. Blead system and noise went away. Noise is back each time after running for about 10 minutes at idle. The PAS works realy well but makes a noise even without touching the steering wheel. Have cleaned the tank, this has the strainer in the bottom, have checked out all lines and no faults, holes or perished rubbers. Noise still comes back as though no ATF after 10 minutes. Any one have any ideas? have the CD's and the manuals but nothing as such is covered in any books or software versions.

Had the same noise on me old v8 landy and it went when I replaced the power steering box thingy with the drop arm on it. Not a cheep try it and see though.

If it sounds like a vibrating noise, like when you have the steering wheel on full lock, it could be a tiny air lock.
try bleeding again.. see what happens

Between bleeding I beleive you are supposed to turn the steering to full lock in both directions and hold it for a few seconds and bleed it again. Check you fluid level all the time you are bleeding the system so it doesn't draw air in.

Thank you for your help and advice, will re-fit the new pump and try bleading again but this time with new suction pipe from the tank. not sure if this will work so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks again.

Had the same problem on an Audi A6 after replacing a PAS hose.It seemed to self bleed after a couple of months.Turned lock to lock but didn't seem to make any difference...
