Hi guys and gals,
Just a bit of a brainstorming session before I fork out wedges of cash.
I am losing power steering fluid on my td5. From what I can see there is dampness on the pipes from the reservoir to the pump on the nearside of the car. At first glance it looks like a possible leak from the pump but the while I have been on holiday I've lost about half the reservoir fluid. I'm unsure that if there is a pump leak this would occur when static due to the u bend in the pipe. This leads me to believe the pipes are corroded or worn.
I need to get under the car at the weekend to have a look, but has anyone experienced static leaking from the pump to that extent or is the consensus to look at the pipes first?
Thanks for any thoughts in advance.
J.

Metal part of the pipe run along the chassis rail to the box and are prone to corrosion from all the road salt

Pipe is easier to replace with the radiator out

The flexible hose can rub on the edge of the sump although usually when it leaks you lose the lot (in my case on a caravan club hard standing which was not popular.....
