Freelander 2 (LR2) power steering hose

Hi,
Anyone know how to separate the pipe connected to the rack from the hose coming from the pump on a 2010 free lander 2 ?.the pipe is corroded and leaking and the hose is a bit rusted at the connection…would rather not pay for the hose as well
 
It's a bit of a bugger to do.
I've done 1 and it took nearly a day to get all the bits of old pipe out the rack connection. It's actually best to replace the whole hose assembly, as once it's done, it'll outlast the vehicle, if you paint the metal pipes when they're fitted.

Thankfully mine is currently ok, so I'm hoping to avoid that little joy for a couple of years yet.
Make sure you replace the reservoir at the same time, as the built in filter blocks, causing it's own issues, and only used the correct CHF fluid, which is normally green or clear in some makes.

lots of other items to remove before you can add a new hose pipe,

The clamp in the photo is the first thing you need to take apart if you can, the bolt sheered when i tried to undo it.

I decide to cut the rusty pipe which needed changing to help me get to the bolt going into the steering rack.

Remove the rubber hose from the other pipe first that will help also.

as you can see the bolt is of allen key type and mine rounded off.

In the end i had to use an Irwins socket to remove it.

I bought three litres as you have to bleed the system after pipe hose change, and as advised above change out the the reservoir.

Very useful posts
I managed to separate them,there’s a spring in the female end which fits in the recess of the male.
A vice and a pair of pliers and a hammer with a little assistance and manipulation in and out and it parted,spring is still intact and think I can reuse the hose and hopefully saved a few pounds.
