Disco 2 Possible worn body mounts?

Since I bought this disco it has honestly been the worst sounding interior I've ever driven, every rough road or pothole makes every piece of interior trim creak and bang, its ridiculously noisy. As for exterior noise (wind etc) she's pretty good, no worse than my other discos. mechanically she is sound, its on all new air suspension (converted from springs last owner had fitted) new shocks all round and new front springs. Watts linkage and rear radius arms replaced with genuine a week ago. Ride quality is pretty good, I've even put her on 16s to try and dampen the blows.. not much difference. Well it does sound better than when I bought it, but still no where near what I would like. Yeah its on 230k miles and the interior is due replacing but theres got to be more to it than that. Which has brought me to my last resort of body mounts, has anyone had these wear... do they wear? would they cause such symptoms?

Not so much as wear but they are a round rubber donut and they do compress over time.

They are readily available as replacement parts and you would be wise to replace them all including the inner chassis mounting bushes too.

They did seem quite cheap, any idea if they are one of the only go genuine items or can i get away with OEM? And by inner chassis mounting bushes I take it you mean the ones in the boot space if I recall, 12 of them total.

OEM are fine, the rear seat belt ties are a simple eye bolt with a rubber grommet in the hole through the bracket on the cross member, the inner chassis ones I speak of are either side of the gearbox around the transmission tunnel.

Looks useful, will take note when I do get round to replacing the interior, will also be fitting closed cell foam where ever possible for general noise reduction. Will still change those body mounts, after all with its age I suppose it isn't a bad idea.

Is it hard to change the body mounts cos it seems a good ideea to change them on a such old vehicle so i'd go for them as well if the job is not a killer

i've been told they can be done individually or in pairs by jacking the body up next to them with a block of wood just enough to slip them out. Sounds easy enough but only one way to find out

Then please give some feedback after you changed them cos my mechanical skills are not so high to go in blind

BTW... to save me from digging do you know the part numbers and how many of them we need please?

undoing the nuts and bolts which are normally rusty, is the worst unless your lucky

KVF100070 x12 rubber mounts
KVF100080 x4 outrigger second mounts
KVF100080 x2 very front rubber mounts are different
KYG101190 x14 tapered edge bolts
KVX100010 x14 washers
FX110047L x14 nuts
KVH100030 metal inserts x14

I'd probably get the nuts and washers from my fastener supplier not to pay silly money for them, and depending on the metal inserts condition will just reuse them again for the cost.

Uff... quite a few of them, thanks for the info, i think i'll pay my mechanic for that cos i'm very hopped-up to get them changed now

Just had to to replace 4 body mounts (rear 4! 2 by rear bumper and middle 2 under rear seats) before Christmas?? As said! If they are original ones! They may be difficult to release if rusty??

But if kept clean ish?? Half-hour job

Torque Setting is 45 Nm!

In what condition were the rubbers? .... do you think that new ones instead of the 20 years olds would make a difference?

Took some photos today of 4 of the mounts to try and see their exterior condition, maybe looks to me like the first pic body mount is slightly more compressed that the other side and has some rot on the ally body around it.
One of the outrigger mounts has bad corrosion on the ally frame that joins the body to the mount.. not sure if these can be bought and spot welded into place as were?

I'm looking forward for the outcome cos i'm up to do them too so i made some research and the opinions were that new ones won't have noticeable effect and it might be wasted time and money but i'd rather rely on real life experience than on presumptions

I read a post saying that, no noticeable difference and not worth it, but then I also read another post saying it made a massive difference to inside cab noise. Will probably tackle it in a week or two, will update then.
