Have a lump sum of money coming to me hopefully this summer, and Ive been thinking about a L322

Ill have about 8k to spend, and with the mileage I do, I'm happy to look at v8s beside diesels, obviously I want as high spec as I can get. It's 99% of the time just going to be used around town and on the odd drash out to the farm, mums, back home etc.

Another reason is, I can't get my discovery in my garage, but a Rangey I could, height wise, I think

Recommendations please people?

Love my 4.4 V8 Vogue got for under 8K.....on Gas....cheaper to run than the diesel...

Search my threads, it han'ts been without its niggles...but thats Rangie Ownership for you!!

8K is the low end of the scale so expect an early version - with their Gearbox Problems to boot...

loads of threads on here about what to look for ,go into it with your eyes open all the common faults have been thrashed through here a few times ,but they are fantastic to drive and when they are running well they are superb, but don't expect the running costs of a ford ka.

8 years old for 8k very optimistic , you don't need to drown it the rear side windows leak on to the entertainment kit in the boot ,landrover fix it witha branded plastic bag

8k will get you a fair 2002-2003 or possible knackered 2004-5....

As above, I got mine for around the 7.5k mark, and have had a couple of 'minor' issues with it, Fuel Pump, Stat, Rad, ABS sensors, and I am now looking at a potential Gearbox issue (fingers crossed she seems to be behaving albeit a minor vibration around 40-50).

They can be found for your 8k budget, but you will need a pot in the bank for potential repairs....and they ain't cheap to repair....

You will need some sort of diagnostic device as constant returning to LR or an Indy to plug it in will be expensive in the long run....

Budget for around 2.5k for a 'box rebuild/replace, and similar for niggly repairs and a few tools and diagnostic device....

They are ridiculously overly complicated beasts, but are sublime to drive and awesome to be in!

S/H Mondeo money to buy, £65k car running and repair costs.....

Jimbo, I am selling my 2002 TD6 (fault-free except for Pixels) for £8250. Am just up the road in Brizzle if you want to look. am only selling as I am going to work abroad for a long period. Had it for 3 years and its never gone wrong on me. Outstanding in this weather! Has heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, both screens heated as well as ski hatch in rear seat (optional extra) see my pics in my gallery here.

Cheers for the advice guys, I've got to wait until a lump sum is released to me before I buy anything, I might have up to 10k to spend, but I want to put a couple of k into my Astra 3 GSi 4x4.

Why the hell would you want to do that? I'd save the extra couple of k and sell the 'Astra 3 GSI 4x4' and put it into a rangie

It's a phase 2 Astra mk3 GSi that's been converted to 4x4 (calibra rear subframe and diff) with a mk4 GSi 200bhp turbo engine.

And I don't ever plan on selling it, owes me thousands its my project car!

That'll soon change if you plan on spending less than 10k on the RR (with at least another 2k in reserve) Only project you'll have then is keeping RR on road :hysterically_laughi
