Possible oil in the injector loom?

Hi guys, been away for awhile, the old girl has been as good as gold she’s a 2004 disco2 td5, apart from having to replace the ABS sensors, except last week, sitting in a traffic jam she was running lovely and smooth, then all of a sudden started to run lumpy on tick over, pulled away and lacked power, got home turned her off and waited a couple of minutes, started her again and perfect, nice and smooth again, today after dropping of swimbo, half way home sitting in traffic suddenly she goes lumpy again, and lacks some power, get home turn her off and hay Pressco she’s as smooth as silk again, now my first thought is oil in the injector loom, no lights on the dash, any other thoughts?

Pull the red plug off and if oil there it will confirm your thoughts

Does the oil have to get right down to the red plug for the problem to start, or can the problem start before it gets that far?

it can start at the connector were loom comes out of rocker box

It certainly sounds like oil in the injector loom.
A short term fix is to hose the red plug out with brake cleaner or IPA (that's Iso Propyl Alcohol, not India Pale Ale). But in the long term the only proper fix is replacement.

Cheers Brian, I’ll put the order through, it’s all made out just wanted some feed back before I went ahead, price came in at about £86 for a genuine Landrover replacement, so just wanted a bit of reassurance.

Cheers guys, success, I was surprised at the amount of oil at the plug, all cleaned an new injector loom fitted, lovely and smooth now

Worth checking it again on a few weeks as the oil works itself out of the loom between the head and the ECU.

Keep cleaning the red plug once a week untill all the oil leaves the harness and you'll find the plug dry cos there is still some residual oil in it
