Been having a few issues with my 200tdi when coming off the throttle to idle sometimes it almost stalls. If i keep it at 1000 rpm seems ok and picks up when i set off.On a couple of occasions though today on trying to set off no throttle response can be for up to 15 sec even on pumping of throttle then it picks up and is ok.
Drives perfectly fine when going along no smoke and picks up ok when you put your foot down.I have in despiration replaced the lift pump with a britpart one as thats all i could get hold of.
Anyone any ideas.
I have searched and seen people saying dodgy injectors etc but this seems like a fuel starvation issue to me.

it might help to put a clear plastic pipe between filter and front banjo on injector pump, you will then see any air at idle and as you rev engine

The whole fuel line from tank to lift pump is clear. Its beer line and has been in for 3 years. There are no bubbles up to the lift pump.

No it was fine.I am pretty sure the lift pump was F****d though as there was no resistance on the arm and it didnt seem to operate the pin you can see inside that i assume must be attatched to a rubber diaphragm somehow.I am now wondering if i fitted the pump right ?

Cheers for that. Was puzzeled as the Britpart pump had 4 bolts with it and a 10 mm rubber spacer same as the gasket so on comparing it to the old one fitted it without the spacer.

Is the pump in the injector good enough for me to run the injector unit straight from a bottle to try and rule out any tank , fuel line, lift pump and filter issues does anyone know ?

engines with ali cam cover have raised casting for pump to bolt to ,engines with flat steel plate need the plastic spacer

That i have yet to find out .
But forgive me for asking but if air was somehow getting in the system would this not be noticable when driving along and not just at idle ?

its often worse at idle ,pump self bleeds in so doing with much air at idle may not achieve enough fuel pressure for the pump but at greater revs even though you have air enough pressure is
