Ploombs of smoke, funny noise TD4 ?? Help

My missus was out driving with my daughter earlier and notice a strange bolloxed bearing type noise which she thought might be the turbo (she is always right like women are, lol) then a short while later the car was smoking like Dot Cotton. No sh*t when I got to her, and tried it thier was a hugh smoke screen of grey smoke from the exhaust, people came out of thier houses to see if it was a fire. It wouldn't start at 1st but then it did and was thick smoke. Anyways, got a tow home the found low oil and water, needed 1-2 ltrs of each. It starts every time now but it smokes a grey colour quite bad and theirs a grinding noise instead of the turbo whistle but it does go. Just to add, when I started the car it revved high on its own and it wouldn't turn of by key, had to stall it.
