Hi, I've been waiting for some prop bearing since before Christmas, so I've had to drive mondo mode in the snow, and i must say the the car has preformed pretty well considering the weather, hope to have the bearings on by the weekend.

........................Safe driving all...................
 
Interesting, because when we ran Mondo for a few days waiting for parts, the car handled awfully, like a dog with an itchy bottom, dragging itself along the Tarmac. I can't imagine what it must be like in these icy road conditions.

Lol, that's what it was like for us, but I guess the Camel is differntly balanced to normal Freelanders. Still can't believe it's a good thing, though. Horses for courses.

Hi,I'd like to know what you mean.I went mono,its much better than it was,but its still not great,a bit of a wobble at 70+mph.
please explain what you mean by dog dragging its arse?

oh and is it difficult to change the prop support bearings?
 
I'm not saying it was brilliant in mondo mode but it's got me where i needed to go throughout the bad weather.

the only bad thing i found in mondo is that there seamed to be a little under-steer if anything, other than that it ran a lot smoother on the road and no problem with getting up to speed ( no wobbling )

any way the good news is, prop breaing back on today and I'm back on
ALL 4's now :D.

Fitting the prop bearing is an easy job, it took me about 1 HR to put the prop back on today.

what a difference, no rumbling noise, the car feels a lot stiffer on the road now,ho and the steering seams to be More true.
 
We expressed similar relief when we had 4wd back.

OldIrishWulf, the car in fwd only scrambled around, poor traction, difficult to put power down without spinning the wheels particularly on hills. Fishtailed around corners of you were driving progressively. Pitch increased and generally unbalanced the car. I found it reminiscent of a Honda CRV with the boot full.

I'm used to driving a variety of vehicles with different charcteristics (high performance cars with front or rear wheel drive, petrols, diesels, autos, manuals, 4x4s, etc.) so can flip between driving styles fairly easily. Couldn't get used to Mondo though.

It was half the car it was with four wheel drive.

But each to their own.

glad to hear it was an easy job to replace the bearings,ive been putting off ordering the parts for too long.coming off an off ramp this morning the van in front of me slowed down to a crawl,wow, was it icy thought id never get up the hill wheels spinning and very poor steering.

i had visions of having to park up on the side of the road,being passed by fiestas, sikychentos , micras not to mention defenders and dico's,I will order them tomorrow.

Aye it's been really icy around Cork the past few weeks. Was up in Blarney the day it was snowing and the amount of tractors on back lanes towing people was unbelievable!
