Please help knocking noise

Hi all the old man has a knocking noise coming from his l322 it sounds like it is coming from the front passenger side we have had a look underneath at tye bushes wich seem to be fine but may be wrong

The noise sounds like an exhaust wobbling and hitting if you know what i mean

We have checked the exhaust and that seems to be ok and when we rock it it doesnt make a knocking sound so we are confused

All the bushes are usually shot if the motors 9+ years old

Start pulling and probing things ala MOT test type of thing to see if there is any play in the bushes and joints...

Remeber the L322 needs to have these checked with weight on the suspension system, so if you can jack up the car using the usual jacking points, remove the road wheel, using another jack or possibly an axle stand...jack up to recompress the suspension but not to take the weight off the main body jack then start checking the components....if using an axle stand, position this under the suspension and lower onto it using the main body jack

Always remember to place an axle stand under the subframe for safety too....

Thanks saint v8 will give it a check over tomorrow

May help may not but it only seems to donit when going slow over slight bumps once up to like 30+ cant seem to hear it

I had a similar noise on my P38 and it was the hand brake drum bolts lose.

Mine grumbles and groans and is the nature of the L322 suspension system....when those groans become louder, you'll have to think about changing the bushes...

If it is a hard knock or tinny mechanical knock then something is loose and banging about!

Changed the rear pads this morning and the drivers side rear hub bush has had it that sounds like the noise we hear banging as well
