Ok, Ok so i know it's my own fault but the chance to screw the government was just too tempting.

the last few weeks

wk 1 mixed five ltrs double filtered used chip fat with 15 ltrs deisel - great
wk 2 mixed eight ltrs double filtered used chip fat with 20 ltrs deisel - great
wk 3 mixed fifteen ltrs double filtered used chip fat with 12 ltrs deisel - fine to start with then a bit iffy first thing in the morning now Ooops.

If i let the glow plug light light twice it will start run lumpy and cut out.

so changed filter and added 30ltrs deisel - shook well and added a shot of redex feul system cleaner.

now will start fine but fuel not getting through to the filter. whoops what next???

any advice welcome

thanks

Kev

ok so i have two lines coming up fromunder the drivers footwell one goes directly to the throttle contrl the other goes to the fuel filoter and then to a flying saucer shaped doofer with a lever under it and onward out to ???

If you are using high concentrations of fat and in a cold environment, you will need a heater - otherwise you should be fine.

I will just clog up your injectors, filters etc if it is too thick and cause problems. I have seen people quite regularly break down through having too high a concentration - one in particular have had nearly every garage turn away from him, and he can't get breakdown cover any more!! LOL!

I'm running a high concentration of wvo at the moment in this clement weather, I filter it through a 1 micron filter and thin it with about 5-10% petrol, It can take a couple extra cranks to start first thing but then it's fine the rest of the day, engine runs better than ever. I've spent £20 on fuel in the last month and done hundreds of miles:D

Heard most of this before, seems to be accurate. I've always tried to keep mine to 50/50 with diesel but recently put a bit too much svo (12ltrs to about 5of diesel) in - never had a problem before but she doesnt wanna start now, any suggestions? I have got a pre-heater and can get the fuel to a good 70 C before trying to start it but still doesn't want to know. Haven't had much chance to poke around yet though.

if your GPs all work and there's fuel the only thing you might be short of is compression

Honestly, I don't know - I've not even looked at it since, just tried to start it and it wouldn't. Will let you know what I find when I do.

make sure your filter is 5 micron or less (jay cloths are 5 micron) ive not bought diesel for 3 years if you buy the reactor it pays for it self within 6 months just have to spend time with chemistry its not difficult i knew jack about chemistry, but i know maths 17p a liter to make.

Thanks for all the help guys it turned out to be the lift pump. having said that i cleaned out the sedimenter and now make sure i only run 33% chip fat.

lift pump is a weak point so heavier oil may stress it.....worth bearing in mind.

With prices going up its looking like its veg oil time again.I never had any trouble running SVO,90% or more in summer,50/50 winter.

I ran short of fuel a long ways from a fuel station one day last time drizzle prices were up.No texaco....but there was a Lidl!Ten liters and a tenner later,Im outside pouring litre bottles of veg oil into my plush Disco ES and a woman comes over...."does that actually work?" she says......"No!" I say "Im decided I dont like the colour of this car so Im blowing the engine up"......she thanked me and left

Playing with veg oil and paying the price!
What a daft statement.
