Been out playing in the snow in my Series 11a tonight.

Awesome.

Live in pennines so lots of snow and lots of steep hills. Could not find any conditions to beat it - either ascent or descent.

Bloody awesome for a 40 year old car.

My day car is a P38, perfectly competent but not the same fun and the series actually felt more controlled on what should have been tricky descents.

Had a great nights entertainment

Steve

Thanks for rubbing it in, my series 3 is not finished yet, and mi poxy punto keeps getting stuck on the drive, and the mrs's xantia's got a knacked ignition switch.

I been out playing in the series one today aswell! My p38 has stayed on the drive, only problem I had with the series one was persuading her to go up the concrete slope into her garage for a nap, she didnt like that, might get her out again tomorrow!

this is all a little irisponsable (sorry for speling) everybody is saying stay home unless you have to go out and you lot are ****ing about in the stuff

I was out playing all weekend in the snow around north Derbyshire - was sat on top of a big hill in the Series 2a skiing about and a Series 1 came up to join me on the tops :) How lovely :)

my series ones got Avon traction mileage boots on and they're doing fine, still its original 2litre petrol, having to use the little yellow know all the time otherwise shes a bit lairy, but just plodding around she's doing fine, the cold has screwed the p38s battery so I'm using the series one all the while, feel more confident in it in this weather than modern fly by wire rubbish anyway so I'm happy, just miss the heated seats, and the watertightness, and the general warmth!!

Crazyjase,

I know what you mean.

The series just feels so safe and cos there are no techno gadgets you have true feeling as to what is happening.

Fantastic stuff...

Steve

weather looks good for pottering around in 4x4 carbon foot print:D

Yer, whilst ofcourse it slide around a bit, you get so much feedback from it you can keep it going where you want, and it will go anywhere!

In our nearest village there's a very steep hill to get into it, so the townies that use it as a cut through have been getting stuck trying to get up it, getting half way up and sliding back down, but in their genius they follow each other up so you get a three car pile up instead of just a failed hill climb, WHY DONT THEY HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE AND GO UP ONE AT A TIME!!!! Wazzuks

Better check your heater plug wiring pobs, and the injection pump cold advance solenoid.
Mine will drive but has no rad, if it gets any bleedin colder I'd be able to drive it without.

On the subject of wazzuks.

At the bottom of the untreated road that I live up there are many cars not abandoned but parked up. Sensible as there is no way they would drive up...

Strange thing is one of them is a well shod Land Rover Discovery. To show its capability it was parked up on the verge rather than along the road side.

Why the F--- didnt he/she drive all the way home - isn't that why you have a 4x4!!!

aaagh..........

Cool videos Fenby - made me giggle. Don't know why but there is something quite amusing the way the Series landie bounces about over things :)

I know what you mean. Coilers are undeniably very capable off road, but I think they make life far too easy. To do trails which more modern Land-Rovers can tackle in a safe, controlled manner, a Series Land-Rover will often have have to be floored with much banging and crashing, bouncing around and wheels cocked in the air! To make life even more difficult for myself I usually go laning with AT tyres too. All good fun:D
