Hi guys,

I'm not sure how much play there should be in the turbo shaft. I have dramatically lost top end power from my 200tdi (55mph tops and no surge as before from the turbo) and have a fair amount of movement in the turbo. Should there be any movement at all??

I have checked everything else i can think of and i keep coming back to the turbo.

Cheers

my turbo is shagged and keeps filling the boost diaphragm with oil. this seems to effect throttle response until i empty it.

thre is allways some plat as turbo runs on oil pressure in bush and not brgs as long as it is not passing too much oil or catching housing if turbo shot should produce blue smoke as oil burns black smoke would indicate restricted air or leaky injectors thres is allways oil from turbo remove air pipe and see if excessive is coming out

I got a second hand turbo from a breakers yesterday and have spent today swapping it with the old one. There is far less play in the new one than the original one so fingers crossed I've solved the problem. I won't be starting it just yet though because of the new year celebrations.

Right I finished swapping the turbo over yesterday and started the engine. I can't see the waste gate push rod move to open the waste gate when I rev up the engine. Does this mean the actuator is knackered?? or could it be something else??

Cheers then.
