Couple of years back, a mate of mine bought a farmhouse at auction.
He had a final viewing of the property on the Thursday afternoon, the auction was on Friday afternoon. He went back on Saturday morning to admire his new purchase and there wasn't a single slate left on the roof of the house or the barn!
Of course, he hadn't yet arranged any insurance and the rozzers established that they went missing on the Friday night, so not covered by the previous owners insurance.
Cost him £15k!

Depends on what time next year Grffdowg as me landie is still stripped down to the chassis, if its up and running i might well be interested in joining up

Leads fetching a resonable price at the moment as well. All those chinese plumbers & electronics bods are running out of solder.
dont use lead in solder no more :( - ROSH compliance - mustnt have any colophony :(

new stuff is a reet bugger - wont flow proper and sticks like **** to evryfink except wot yu want!

I think you mean RoHS - which banned lead in solder, among other things.
lead-free solder is OK, but you need a slightly higher temperature to get a good flow. also, cleanliness of the parts being soldered is even more important because the flux used is not as aggressive as the old stuff.

yu is rite, Trewy - i aint woke up yet;)
Cleanliness is a problem with contacts - we is having to resort to flux dipping all connectors - makes a reet mess if yu aint carefull.

I recently replaced the flashing along me conservatory roof. The last time I bought some 6" Class 2 lead, it was £9 a roll. This time it was £37 ffs!

Ye probably could, but i think ye may need to buy a permit. Not sure how it works as I've never tried it meself. i'll stick to the sea cos it's free;) :D

Can I join yer fishin club, I caught this IM000012.JPG in the Ashby Canal.

An yer can use leaded solder for any plumbing job that dunt have potable water running in it, an 6 metre roll of 600mm code four lead has gone up by 20 quid in a month. So there.
