This one comes closest to how I would describe it :)

And yes it looks ok but looks can be decieving lol It's not the worst ever disco but it needs a fair amount of work.

Oh the spot lights were not my doing and I will be removing them and the middle one isnt wired up and none of them work lol.

And breathe Sam breathe :D ;)

Tis all in perspective I guess but when you buy one for £1500 then spend £1000 to get it fixed and then find it still has loads of issues well..................It means I'm a MUG! yay me!!!!!

I never do follow my intuition wish I did my whole life would have run better anyway for the time being as I cant afford any more large mechanic bills I am getting the spanners out and buying the bits and going to try various things myself untull I bleed and start smashing it with a hammer which usually takes me around 5 mins. :)

Having just forked out for a new steering box, steering damper 3 sets of bearings, UJ's and exhaust that I have spent this year's budget. Next year will be the strip back and respray (get rid of the rust malarkey).
The only way to approach Disco nay all Land Rover ownership is as a long term thing. Not a buy year one, tinker and upgrade year 2.
That way when you have spent the cash and time, singed hair and knuckle skin, you'll have learnt a bit and have the Disco where you need it.
After that it;s down to how well you maintain the beggar.

Keep the faith, I've found it;s paid off but took two years of sailor talk and wallet beating

Oh trust me Im very used to looking at the long term I had an old Porsche that took me 4 years just to get working and £9000 to get back on the road lol. Then I sold it for £2000............

Yeah best not to ask.

My main issues right now is the still present sqeek especially when it warms up and the noise vanishes when brakes are applied and the other issue is coolant leaking still after p-gasket changed and new water pump and belt kit done. Those two I can cope with most things but I always want the mechanical side of things done quickly body, rust and little bits like window regulator not working I can live with or sort out.

My wife just gave up and the neighbours help put it together when it breaks but have to agree with the rest. Anyway the disco looks better than mine...
